          Our HISTORY

Greater Lakes, a community-supported non-profit organization, began in 1964 with a group of volunteers dedicated to providing mental health services in southwestern Pierce County, particularly for children. Since incorporation in 1965 when it served 175 persons, Greater Lakes has grown to become a comprehensive mental health agency that served over 10,000 individuals in 2010. In March 1997, the agency opened a beautiful new facility which unified formerly scattered programs and staff to serve the community more effectively and efficiently.  At this Main Building, Greater Lakes provides a broad range of outpatient mental health services (psychiatric assessments, individual psychotherapy and counseling, medication management, and psycho-educational groups) for all ages.
