POSITION:
Mental Health Therapist – Child and Family Services
Full Time – Monday-Friday
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Assist children, adults and families in Greater Lakes’ outpatient services in their journey toward recovery and wellness. Provide individualized, person-centered clinical case management services including therapy, assessments, child and family teams, psycho-education, groups, educational and /or vocational support, outreach, crisis stabilization, and assistance with medical, community and natural supports. Partner with clients, their families, and significant others in obtaining, maintaining, and using appropriate mental health and community resources. Focus on helping clients attain their goals, providing hope and motivation, as clients heal and develop resiliency. Provide counseling to help clients re-establish self-identity, sense of purpose and meaning in their lives, which may include developing plans for school, work and/or volunteering, and making community connections. MHP level Therapists in Child and Family also do intakes and assessments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have a minimum of a Masters degree in a mental health related field from an accredited college or university and at least two years experience in the direct treatment of mental illness of children and families under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional, or BA plus 4 years directly relevant experience. Requires excellent mental health knowledge and skills, excellent communication and documentation skills, knowledge of community resources, excellent organization and time management skills. Must have good keyboarding and computer skills, a WA State driver’s license, dependable transportation, and private auto insurance. Requires a positive, solution-focused, customer-service orientation. Must have a current mental health credential from the WA State Department of Health or be eligible for the DOH Agency Affiliated Counselor credential.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Prefer experience working with publicly-funded at-risk families. Prefer applicants who already are a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined in WAC 388-865-0150 (a Master’s degree in a mental health related field and a minimum of 2 years clinical mental health experience supervised by an MHP).
STARTING PAY RATE: $17.31 – 23.01/hr to START depending on MHP status and other qualifications. The minimum starting rate for an MHP in this position is $18.64.
